For the first time in almost 50 years, pro-life Americans have the opportunity to protect life in law as well as in service, a loving responsibility we gladly embraced. As a result of the U.S. Supreme Court reversal of Roe v. Wade, individual states now have the responsibility and possibility of protecting women and children from a predatory, billion-dollar abortion industry.
Therefore, the citizens of Rio Rancho, NM seek to permanently protect all preborn lives within their community via a Sanctuary City for the Preborn Ordinance. We the citizens of Rio Rancho are publicly affirming the respect of human life in all stages of development and a commitment to using taxpayer dollars to affirm and care for life, from conception to natural death.
Students for Life of America’s Campaign for Abortion Free Cities seeks to make abortion unthinkable and unobtainable in Rio Rancho. We pledge to be of service, through our Standing With You Initiative. We are proud to join with the citizens of Rio Rancho in support of a Sanctuary City for the Preborn Ordinance.

Petition to City Council Members to Pass Sanctuary City for the Preborn Ordinance in Rio Rancho, NM
WHEREAS: In 2017, a local Albuquerque woman died after a botched abortion at Southwestern Women’s Options; 1 of the 4 abortion facilities in Albuquerque. The state of New Mexico allows abortions up to birth without parental consent. The Planned Parenthood facility sells abortions up to 19 weeks at which point a preborn baby in the womb has a heartbeat, brain activity, and may be capable of feeling pain. We found no evidence of abortion facilities in New Mexico being inspected by the Department of Health; therefore, they have no accountability for their actions.
WHEREAS: Such outright disregard for human life should be offensive even to the most pro-choice Rio Rancho citizens; and
THEREFORE: I urge you to help protect all preborn children in Rio Rancho by encouraging all seven city council members to vote in SUPPORT of the Sanctuary City for the Preborn of Rio Rancho Ordinance.
